Open until filledMission: To provide our students and staff with materials for leisure reading as well as access to information, resources, and services that will empower them to become resourceful and knowledgeable, strategic and goal-directed, and purposeful and motivated.
Supervision: Reports to building principal or designee
General Objective: Assist with daily operation of the library media center.
Support the Library Media Center Mission.
Know and support all Library Media Center procedures, policies, and expectations.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and attractive work area.
Monitor the circulation desk and library - ensure students sign in and sign out.
Assist students and teachers in finding appropriate print and electronic resources.
Maintain Library Media Collections:
Objectives: assist with processing, maintaining, and organizing materials.
Assist in processing and preparing new materials for circulation and distribution. (Materials may include books, magazines, databases, e-books)
Repair books as needed.
Shelve and file materials.
Circulation of Materials and Patron Management:
Objectives: assist with circulation of materials, collection of overdue materials, and patron attendance records.
Circulate library materials.
Guide patrons in locating materials.
Assist with reader's advisory - (suggest titles to patrons based on their interests/reading level).
Create and distribute overdue notices.
Collect lost / damaged book fees from students.
Assist with inventory of all library materials.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff records.
Assist Students with Information and Technology Needs:
Objective: Supervise and assist student patrons.
Circulate in the Media Center and assist students and staff as needed.
Maintain knowledge of Destiny (our online catalog) and teach students how to use it to locate materials.
Maintain a familiarity with Media Center collections: books, websites, periodicals, e-books, databases, etc.
Assist students with technology needs: accessing and navigating databases, online resources, and software programs; printing; logging in to computers.
Assist students and/or staff who need updated IDs.
Engage students during library visits.
Take the lead on updating and maintaining the display areas/cases for the library.
Objective: provide an aesthetically pleasing study/ work environment.
Update the library's common areas with current and relevant work to align with the mission of BCSC and CNHS.
Update the library's display cases located in the hallway. Display should align with the mission of BCSC and CNHS.
Assist in other areas of the school as needed and directed by your supervisors.
