Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or this may be waived by the building principal
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Head Media Specialist or Principal(s)
Job Goal: To provide such help to teachers and students using the library, either individually or in groups,
as to enable them to take full advantage of available resources.
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Helps students locate reference materials and other instructional materials.
2.Operates the circulation desk, as assigned.
3.Writes notices concerning overdue books.
4.Replaces books and media materials in proper storage when they are returned.
5.Operates equipment and apparatus as requested.
6.Reads to small groups of students (in elementary school libraries only).
7.Helps to maintain bulletin boards and other library displays.
8.Processes orders, forms, schedules, catalog cards, and the like.
9.Monitors attendance in the library and keeps attendance records.
10.Assists in maintaining proper student discipline.
11.Makes simple repairs on damaged books and materials, and processes more severely damaged items for repair at the appropriate places.
12.Prepares materials for reserve on teachers request and maintains the reserve collections.
13.Prepares current magazines for shelving.
14.Assists in maintaining the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s
policy on Evaluation of Paraprofessional Personnel.
