Role Overview
The Senior CNC Programmer will be a member of the BlueSky Innovations Engineering & Technology Team, reporting to the VP of Engineering & Technology. You will be responsible for creating all the Manufacturing Engineering outputs require to convert component designs into manufacturable product, training machine operators, mentoring other associates, managing internal manufacturing projects and driving continuous improvement.
Requirements
· Ability to read and interpret complex manufacturing drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
· Ability to create and update NC Programs using manual edits and CAD CAM systems.
· Experienced in reading and interpreting M and G code programs.
· Experienced in designing and implementing efficient and safe machining processes.
· Experienced with CNC Lathe, Mill-turn and 5th Axis Mill machining processes.
· Able to design safe and functional fixtures and work holding devices.
· Able to create clear work instructions.
· Able to work independently and in a team environment.
· Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time as task requires.
· Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Experience
· Ten years of experience in a production, machine shop environment.
· Five years of experience programming NC lathe and mill-turn machines (experience with Okuma machines is highly preferred).
· Five years of experience programming in Esprit CAM software.
· Five years of experience with NC machine set-up.
· Five years of experience in NC machining fixture design.
· A working knowledge of metrology, gauges and inspection techniques.
· Lean Manufacturing experience (Kaizen, SMED, 5S).
Responsibilities
· Generate complete NC programs, fixtures, tooling packages and work instructions to manufacture component designs represented by 3d engineering models and/or drawings.
· Design fixtures with a focus on minimizing part runtime and balancing operator workload in multi-machine cells.
· Act as a lathe and mill-turn subject matter expert in manufacturing reviews and design reviews.
· Recommend best design practices and design alternatives to minimize overall component costs (especially takt time).
· Train machine operators to build proficiency in machine set-up.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
