Cnc Machinist

General Description:

A CNC Machinist at Galaxy Technologies transforms a piece of aluminum metal into a tight-tolerance finished product. This is machined using 3-axis CNC Haas machines. Our finished products include high quality aerospace tooling or mold inserts.

Responsibilities:

• Set up machine
• Load program on machine.
• Read and interpret set-up documents (how to set up part; tools needed)
• Read and interpret blue-prints (shows holes, depth, diameter)
• Edit speeds and feeds
• Basic code editing
• Prepare machine for next part
• Part inspection before coming off the machine
• Clean and deburring of part
• Running of multiple machines when necessary
• Keep machine clean and well maintained
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Cross train on other machines
• Must wear proper PPE at all times

Other:

• Knowledge of estimated versus actual hours spent on a job
• Work overtime when necessary (although overtime is not involuntary)
• Return all company tools to their rightful places after use
• Assist and support those around you

Required Experience and Skills:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Must have at least 2 years of basic CNC machinist experience
• Must have set-up experience
• Must have basic math knowledge
• Must be able to read and interpret blue-prints and set-up documents
• Must have experience running Haas machines using Fanuc controls
• Must understand basic G-codes
• Must know speeds and feeds to edit program when necessary
• Must be able to use micrometers and other measurement devices
