Position Summary
To machine quality parts in a cost effective manner which will be used in the production of surgical equipment and related items and/or contracted business.
Shift: 11:00pm-7:00am

Duties
- Consistent proficiency in setting up and effectively operating a multitude of CNC and Conventional machines such as Mills, Lathes, Grinders etc., while effectively maintaining the specified print tolerances noted
- Calculate and set machine controls to regulate machining repeatability such as speeds, feeds, overrides. The ability to enter command codes to retrieve machine data for program restarts and alarms
- Read and interpret STERIS® blueprints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including
- Use precision measuring devices, gages, instruments to thoroughly inspect and insure that parts meet the print tolerances and in process dimensions
- Remain safety conscious at all times, wearing all the required safety equipment for your work area. Conform to all safety rules and policies stated in the employee handbook
- Keep and maintain a clean and orderly work environment while instituting the 5S principles of Lean Manufacturing
- Immediately report any and all safety related issues ,irregularities, and discrepancies relating to job functions and assignments
- Conform to all policies, procedures and rules of conduct as communicated through the Employee handbook, Bulletin
Education Degree
- High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience
- High school graduate or GED required, technical degree preferred.
- Ability to set-up and operate CNC and conventional Lathes and Mills.
- Ability to read and interpret current engineering blueprints and production specifications.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and gages such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong math skills and the ability to apply them.
- Minimum two years machinist experience.
- Ability to make decisions and stay quality focused
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members of the leadership team
- Assist with training other operators.
- Willingness to work overtime, if required.
- Knowledge, understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing tools, such as, 5S, Kanban Inventory,
- Visual Management, Waste elimination, and Root Cause Problem Solving are preferred.
Pay range for this opportunity is $20.22 - $26.53Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines to perform precision machining operations
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations
- Use CAD software to program CNC machines
- Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and adherence to specifications
- Inspect finished products using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other precision measuring instruments
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines or programs
- Fabricate parts using manual machining techniques such as milling machines and lathes
Skills:
- Proficiency in operating CNC machines and related equipment
- Strong knowledge of machining principles and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Experience with CAD software, such as SolidWorks, for programming CNC machines
- Familiarity with a variety of hand tools used in machining processes
- Knowledge of measurement tools, including bore gauges, micrometers, and calipers
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
