POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: CNC MachinistDepartment: Manufacturing

Reports to: Operations Manager Direct Reports: As noted below

JOB FUNCTION:

As one of our CNC machine operators, you will interpret client specifications, enter them into the CNC machine, set up the machine and monitor it as it operates. You will make critical contributions to our company’s reputation, ensuring the excellence of our products by following inspection protocols and detecting errors before products are released. You will report to the operations manager.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Knowledge and skill of operating machine tools such as lathes, drills, milling machines and grinders to product metal parts.
• Determine the fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications and mount them to machine prior to beginning cutting.
• Ability to use and maintain all special and hand tooling such as drills, grinders, cutting tools, squares, levels, etc.
• Discuss project specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products and collaborate to modify designs with existing ones are not feasible.
• Modify machine speed, tooling and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts.
• Oversee cutting process, make adjustments throughout each job, catch mistakes as they happen and take necessary measures to eliminate errors.
• Review and interpret cutting plans, enter them into control outlets before jobs and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary.
• Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation.
• Required Skills, Experience and Behaviors:
• Act in accordance with the company’s code of conduct, safety policy and ISO requirements and in an ethical manner in support of a “Best in class” organization.
• At lease 5 years of CNC machine experience.
• Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred.

• Comfortable using tools and maintaining machinery.

• Familiarity with programming and interpreting CNC software.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.

• Ensures the cleanliness and upkeep of the workshop, thereby creating an efficient and customer focused work environment in the ship.

• Experience working within ISO and or Military Standard Quality assurance systems.

• Values precision and enforces quality standards.

• Continuous improvement mindset and drive

• Strong presentation and communication skills.

• Ensuring a safe, OSHA, and environmentally complaint workplace.

Direct reports include: Operations Manager.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
