The company is small, therefore, to ensure full employment, the vacancy includes the functionality of a oversee day-to-day operations of our machine shop. In this role you will set and operate first and second operation machines and oversee operators, to accurate specifications ensuring that components are produced correct to drawing and delivered on time.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Milling - Program, set and operate CNC 3 Axis Milling Machines, inspecting work and recording the results to ensure the required quality is maintained.
- Turning - Program, set and operate CNC machines (OKUMA program control) inspecting work and recording the results to ensure the required quality is maintained.
- Setup and operation of conventional manual lathes in a safe and orderly manner*
- Responsible for operating controls: Inspects first part and work pieces throughout the production run for out-of-tolerance machining, inspection of quality parts
- Responsible for the correct setting work holding fixtures, debarring.
- Blueprint reading.
- Capable of taking drawing to part (read the drawing and make that part).
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing
- Quality conscience.
- Work effectively and resolve issues within a team environment.
- Perform any additional operations necessary (including deburring) that are required to produce finished components.
- Part inspection, maintain tolerances +/- .001
- Complete any measuring / quality inspection tasks with tooling (micrometer / caliper / gauges, etc.)
- Involvement in continuous improvement activities / Lean processes.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities and reports all machine malfunctions to Owner/Manager.
