Job description

The Cloud Engineer role on the Cloud Engineering team is responsible for enabling secure, easy to use, scalable, and durable AWS solutions between our internal or external clients and services. Bring your exceptional Cloud Engineering and security expertise to our ambitious team to improve the reliability and maintainability of our AWS cloud infrastructure while ensuring we meet our compliance obligations. These systems live both within our legacy-on-premises infrastructure and our vastly growing cloud computing infrastructure.

You will work closely with a team of peers to produce and maintain easy-to-use cloud native solutions, software tools, libraries, and workflows, for use in handling the different engineering requirements among every team at HDAI. You will also handle break-fix work and consult with other HDAI teams on implementation details for new and existing projects where AWS Cloud Services are consumed. Come help the Cloud Engineering Team build a better internal HDAI Platform.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the implementation of software and infrastructure architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies.
• Rectify gaps and pain points within the current state of the HDAI cloud stack.
• Analyze the current AWS environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
• Improve and modify current designs by reviewing end-user topology, security, performance, and interoperability requirements.
• Interface with internal clients to build best-viable solutions for prototypes and design choices in deliverables.
• Develop, build, and maintain CI/CD PL and follow best practices around automation.
• Attend to cloud support issues in the help desk system.
• Help to mentor and develop peers with different skillsets on the team and in the organization.
• Help design, implement, and manage cloud-related security controls that support our cybersecurity programs (SOC 2, NIST-800-53, etc.).
• Perform compliance testing of cloud infrastructure in accordance with our security and operational controls around HiTrust and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability).

We are looking for teammates with;

• 2+ years of previous experience with deploying or developing on AWS services.
• Familiarity with scripting languages including but not limited to Bash and PowerShell.
• Experience using either Python and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Linux & containerization.
• Real world use of Terraform for Infrastructure as Code on AWS.
• Familiarity with Jira and Agile/Scrum workflows.
• Displayed proficiency in core IT concepts of networking, cybersecurity, and physical / virtual infrastructure functions.
• Experience in common object-oriented patterns and structures and software design paradigms is a plus.
• Experience with RDS / PostGRES / MySQL is a plus.
• Experience with JIRA / Confluence will be helpful.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, time management, communication, and reporting skills.
• Ideal candidates will display strong interpersonal skills, a desire for continuous professional growth, and a passion for providing cloud technology support.

Preferred education

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent related Cloud Engineering / DevOps experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,345.00 - $150,657.00 per year
