Job description

Department: Domestic and Sexual Violence Services

Reports To: Program Director

Scope: To provide trauma-informed, evidence-based best practice in counseling/therapy and advocacy services to individuals and families (adults and children) experiencing domestic and/or sexual violence. (2 FTEs at 50% domestic violence and 50% sexual assault)

DUTIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below.)

o Uses theoretically-based counseling methods to provide bio-psycho-social assessments, individual, group therapy and/or consultation to survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence. Maintain a caseload of 20-25 individual clients.

o Provide psycho-education, support, interpersonal process, and other types of relevant groups to survivors on domestic and sexual violence.

o Provide ongoing safety planning and support to survivors as needed within the therapeutic process.

o Complete regular client documentation and monthly reports regarding client cases and ensure collection of outcome related data is maintained accurately and in alignment with the schedule for reporting to funders.

o Participate with a multi-disciplinary team to effectively meet the needs of clients, when necessary.

o Attend weekly team meetings, training, supervision, and mandatory agency meetings.

o Provide on-call crisis intervention during and after hours to include Regional Hospital Accompaniment Response Team (RHART), walk-ins, caseload clients, etc.

o Serves on (2-3) committees pertaining to domestic or sexual violence.

o Assists with maintaining and/or building collaborations or community partnerships.

o Provide field supervision and guidance to interns and practicum students.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

o Performs other duties as assigned and needed for the effective and efficient operation of the organization.

o This is a Level 5 position and can be considered Clinician I or Clinician II, determined by necessary qualifications.

SUPERVISION:

This position must provide supervision for (1-3) intern/practicum student(s) a year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

o Master’s Degree (required) in Social Work, Psychology, or related Counseling field.

o Knowledgeable and/or experience working in a trauma informed care model of service provision.

o Bilingual Capacity preferred but not required.

Experience/Skills:

o At least 1-2 years’ experience working therapeutically within the counseling field.

o At least one year of experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence preferred.

o Ability to be flexible and work effectively as an individual clinician and collaboratively with others.

o Professional and dependable to the responsibilities of the job duties.

o Energetic with a strong display of leadership and problem-solving skills.

o Excellent oral and written communication skills

o Successful completion of criminal background and credit checks

o The essential relationships needed for success in this position are YWCA staff and management, Board members and other volunteers, clients, other community service agencies and community at large.
