The Clinical Therapist’s role in the continuity of care of patients includes an understanding and participation in the treatment of patients with psychiatric problems following established standards as outlined by departmental policy and procedure manuals and professional licensing agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in Mental Health field or Graduate degree in a directly related counseling program (ex. Ed.S in Counselor Education) from an accredited college.
Experience: Two years of psychiatric or counseling experience.
Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Social Worker in the State of South Carolina. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card (not required for position located in oncology dept.).
Licensure/Certification-Non-Medicare Billing Departments: Currently licensed as a Professional Counselor or Social Worker in the State of South Carolina. If candidate/employee is licensed as a Professional Counselor-Intern, documentation of the supervising Licensed Counselor must be on file (does not have to be a RSFH employee). Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card (not required for position located in oncology dept.). Non-Medicare billing departments include: 50-8084 RSF Primary Care-Rivers Ave, 12-3024 NSG Behavioral Medicine,and 10-3598 340B HIV Program.

Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of the mental health categories of illness and behaviors exhibited by patients. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge and skills in the therapeutic treatment of patients to include the facilitating of psychotherapy and psycho-educational groups. Provides a high level of skill in crisis intervention management of patients. Demonstrates professional communication with medical personnel, family members and community agency personnel. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible when interacting with oworkers, patients, patient’s family members, and to work as an interdisciplinary team member.
Other: Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive material.
