Job description

Summary: Required to work floor nursing as needed. Accountable in the overall quality of patient care delivered. Responsible for providing leadership and direction to nursing staff. Will function in nurse manager role in his/her absence. Directs the development of orientees.

Qualifications and skills: Current Arkansas license as a Registered Nurse required. Two to five years expertise in designated clinical area preferred. Prior experience as nursing supervisor or leadership role such as charge nurse, etc. strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership abilities and excellent communication skills are required. Should be knowledgeable in nursing orientation/education. Must be ACLS and BLS certified.  

Job Duties and Descriptions:

  • Exhibit proficient nursing principles and technical skills with current clinical practice as an RN specific to patient population.
  • Open, accurate, and responsive oral and written communication.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines.
  • Exhibits dependability and reliability in work attendance.
  • Demonstration of ethical and professional conduct.
  • Flexibility for disaster work as required by workload and/or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and associate information.
  • Attend unit meetings.
  • Conduct learning needs assessments for all new nursing associates at time of hire into practice.
  • Displays an enthusiastic behavior which promotes high morale among team members.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements educational programs as needed.
  • Prepares and teaches in-service accounting to staff needs.
  • Evaluates clinical skills and improves clinical performance.
  • Utilize appropriate strategies to facilitate positive change.
