Clinical Network Engineer

Direct Hire/Permanent Opportunity

Location: Orlando and surrounding areas

Pay: $65K - $75K

Schedule: Typically M- F 8:00a-5:00p, some weekends and On-Call responsibility may be required when necessary

General Summary:

The Clinical Engineering Network Engineer is required to install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and verify the performance of complex biomedical equipment with minimal supervision. The individual should be competent in the use of all applicable test equipment and tools required in the performance of these duties. The Network Engineer may serve as technical advisor to the medical and clinical staff in the safe operation and use of clinical equipment. This position also assists in developing specifications for the selection of new clinical equipment. The individual demonstrates adherence to the service standards in all professional interactions. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Service

• Perform performance assurance (PA) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on complex and intricate biomedical equipment.
• Repair, install, and calibrate complex and intricate biomedical equipment.
• Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns.
• Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery.
• Maintain biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education.
• Assist with Service Operations Special Projects as assigned.
• On-Call rotation and flexible work time may be required.
• Some travel within the region may be required.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include the inventory, performance assurance (PA) schedules, nomenclature, naming conventions, and service history.

• Adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), including all regulatory agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures.
• Responsible for ensuring all service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate.

Department Relationship Management

• Build and maintain customer relationships
• Discuss equipment status and functionality with clinicians
• Adhere to the service standards

Inventory

• Perform periodic inspections of current inventory status
• Perform incoming inspections to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of medical devices, including trial and evaluation, rental, and loaner equipment in addition to permanently assigned equipment inventory.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include inventory, nomenclature, and service history
• Make recommendations regarding inventory
• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience Strongly Preferred:

• Complex computer skills including the ability to administrate a system, interpret error codes, defragment hard drives, replace power supplies, and interpret computer codes required.
• Performs pre-procurement evaluations and support assessments on new devices and systems.
• Utilizes available service literature and other pertinent resources for completing repairs, PM's, software/hardware upgrades/enhancements and other support needs as required by regulatory agencies and device manufacturers.
• Monitors rental and other non-hospital owned devices for compliance with corporate safety policies.
• Assists the Clinical Engineering department in effectively supporting and maintaining mission critical medical/electronic equipment, systems, and networks.
• Analyzes, resolves, and documents problems associated with medical devices/systems hardware and software.
• Install and configure hardware and software components.
• Perform tests on new hardware and software.
• Completes all repairs, PM's and other support activity documentation in order to comply with regulatory and accrediting agencies and to fulfill departmental requirements.
• Communicates information regarding repair status of assigned equipment to appropriate medical personnel in the using department and escalates delay issues to the CE Supervisor as needed.
• Receives intermediate training and exposure on the repair and maintenance of medical or electronic equipment systems and accessories, as well as other supporting hardware to include computers, networks, databases and other types of systems and associated medical or electronic device software.
• Assists with the coordination of integrating supported medical/electronic devices and systems to the hospital IT systems and networks.
• Supports and maintains relationships with all organizational departments including IT units to ensure that Clinical Engineering and IT delivered services and end-user productivity goals are understood and exceeded.
• Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources.

• Strong presentational communication skills.
• Formal documented training on medical device maintenance.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English.

Education and Experience Required:

- Associate or 2 + years of experience in repair/support of medical equipment/electronic/computerized systems

Preferred:

- OEM, Philips PIC IX, Rev C training

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

- Valid State Driver's License and driving record; variable travel requirements depending on primary site that may require use of personal vehicle with liability insurance
