The Clinical Manager of Physician Assistant Services is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of patient care. They will actualize the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center. This position will participate in performance improvement, research activities while working closely with the Department's QI director on all focused program and departmental initiatives. This manager maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; demonstrates leadership skills; demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.
The Clinical Manager of Physician Assistant Services will manage, monitor and coordinate all aspects of the delivery of care for each orthopedic patient . This includes preoperative and post operative coordination of care and education. The Clinical Manager will be responsible for ensuring that each patient receives the highest standards of care in the preoperative and postoperative stages and those standards will be measured in outcomes and program report cards.
The Clinical Manager of Physician Assistant Services will monitor and evaluate patient satisfaction and implement programs to continually improve the quality of care and promote standardization of clinical pathways, along with improvements in overall satisfaction. The position will also undertake all efforts necessary to optimize financial performance of the Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Integrates the standards of excellence into daily clinical practice.
- Provide oversight of all administrative aspects of the PAs including team leadership. Must ensure adequate scheduling of office schedules and PA assignments; determination of session pay, granting vacations. Must submit payroll and assist in management of PA budget; must participate in preparedness for all regulations and standards as required by bodies such as JCAHO and NYS DOH.
- Ensures that the table of organization for PAs is filled through recruitment and hiring of PAs; ensures that competencies are developed and met; ensures timely and regular evaluation of PAs; disciplines up to firing when necessary. Training of new PAs.
- Participates with the medical director of the PAs in developing a curriculum for PAs; keeps current with respect to new technologies, techniques, or patient management strategies; sets up and supervises procedural and/or patient care training and teaching; participates in the formal didactics for the PA education.
- In collaboration with the Attending Physician and other health care providers, coordinates the care of the patient.
- Performs procedures that are appropriate to the Musculoskeletal Care of patients, including, but not limited to intra-articular injections, arthrocentesis, venipuncture, ultrasound guided procedures, etc.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills to problem solve and initiate clinical decision making.
- Participates in a team approach to health care, by acting as a liaison between members of the primary care team.
- Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures and examinations.
- Prescribes medications for the patient.
- Performs related duties as necessary
- Performance evaluations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Masters Degree required
- Minimum 7 years work experience required
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NY State License
- NCCPA, ACLS and BLS certified
