A leading children's medical institution is seeking a Clinical Documentation Integrity Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and performing day-to-day operations including personnel management, education, training, productivity, work assignments, quality reviews, and report management for the Clinical Documentation Integrity team. The ideal candidate has prior experience with inpatient coding and/or Clinical Documentation improvement.

Clinical Documentation Integrity ManagerResponsibilities:

• Manage and provide oversight of day to day operations of the Clinical Documentation Integrity practices to ensure consistency, meet coding and compliance guidelines, and to ensure appropriate and effective reimbursement.
• Monitor accuracy, efficiency and productivity of Clinical Documentation Integrity team to ensure compliance with departmental performance standards (productivity, quality, etc.).
• Coordinate and prioritize Clinical Documentation Integrity workflow.
• Reevaluate and adjust productivity and quality metrics as the department evolves due to internal and external changes. Formulating action plans based on results to improve the metrics of the department.
• Develop and implement department-wide programs, including written materials and training aides, to ensure and promote the understanding of Clinical Documentation Integrity.
• Collaboratively works with coding, quality, utilization management, physician champions, and other key stakeholders to improve Clinical Documentation.
• Coordinate, compile, and share data reflecting the activity associated with the program.
• Develop and monitor internal Key Performance Indicators (KPI) as it relates to the revenue cycle and quality outcomes.
• Conducts data and root cause analysis and communicates Clinical Documentation opportunities and/or concerns to key stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
• Provide valid and accurate data to CDI Leadership and other stakeholders.
• Continually examine program effectiveness against industry changes, threats, and opportunities.
• Monitor and manage a budget for a defined area of responsibility.
• Manage the typical span of control: Administrative 8-10, Clinical 10-13, Support Services 11-13; e.g. Admin: Fin, IT, Legal, HR, Public Affairs; Support Services: EVS, Security, Engineering, Food Services.
• Assist with reviews of all Medicare and Medicaid audits.
• Develop and review policies and procedures that establish standards for Clinical Documentation Integrity.
• Strategically Coordinate education to providers regarding overall documentation best practices and requirements. This will include elements for complete documentation availability, Documentation Integrity, compliance, and patient profiling. Manages time/attendance, schedules and participates in process for area of responsibility.

Clinical Documentation Integrity ManagerQualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with inpatient coding and/or Clinical Documentation improvement.
• 3+ years of management experience.
• CDI and Coding experience.
• CDI experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
• Completed High School (Diploma or GED) - Minimum Degree Required
• Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
• Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS).
• Ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjust effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.
• Meet patient and patient family needs; take responsibility for a patient's safety, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes; use appropriate interpersonal techniques to resolve difficult patient situations and regain patient confidence.

• Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
