Summary
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Von Voigtlander Women's Clinic provides consultation, comprehensive treatment and a broad range of services and procedures for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies and for a broad range of gynecologic services. The clinic team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, dieticians, as well as a multifunctional administrative/clerical team.

Responsibilities*
? Provide culturally sensitive, age-specific nursing care within a team-based care model to patients seen at the Von Voigtlander OBGYN Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic. The Von Voigtlander OBGYN Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic provides high risk care to pregnant patient?s experiencing, but not limited to:
o Maternal cardiac disease
o Complex multiples
o Growth restriction
o Genetic complications
o Preterm labor or a history of preterm delivery
o Addiction disorders
o Diabetes (type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes)
o Multiple miscarriages
o Seizures
o Lupus
o Cancer
o Placenta accreta spectrum disorders
o Fetal anomalies
? Provide direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, including, but not limited to, patient assessment, patient/family education and counseling and support based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
  • Coordinate and manage the care of the Maternal Fetal Medicine patients in collaboration with the health care team, including coordinating appointments, monitoring test and lab results, providing patient education and assessment throughout the pregnancy.
  • Collaborate with care team to develop and provide education for patients, and to the nursing staff, students, fellows, residents, and the community.

? Perform preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient charts throughout the pregnancy.

? Evaluate unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate interventions and referrals.
? Implement appropriate clinical decisions and accepts accountability of care provided by self and by healthcare providers to who care is delegated.
  • Collaborate with and serve as a resource to the clinical team, including social workers, OBGYN nurses, clerical team, and physicians regarding patient care.

? Evaluate effectiveness of patient and family teaching
? Respond to patient treatment-related phone calls and inbasket messages.
  • Assist physicians with clinical activities and medical procedures, as needed.
  • Supporting clinical and translational research.
  • Attending and participating in conferences and continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature. Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care.
  • Other nursing duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills providing patient and family education and coaching related to chronic conditions including, but not limited to, diabetes, asthma, and coronary artery disease.
  • Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Willingness to adapt to different populations i.e.: pediatrics, OB/GYN, adult medicine as needed. Orientation and training would be provided.

Hourly range for RSAM Registered Nurses $39.47 - $61.39 / hour
Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour
Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour
Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour
Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Required Qualifications*
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan
  • Required Educational Requirement; applicant must meet one of the following:

1. Bachelor?s degree in nursing OR
2. Associate degree or diploma in Nursing and a master?s degree or higher in Nursing
  • Three years recent, in the past five (5) years, RN experience providing direct care to patients receiving Maternal Fetal Medicine care in an office or clinic setting.
  • Current BLS Certification

Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience as a CLINICAL CARE COORDINATOR or nurse navigator in an Ambulatory Care setting.

Work Schedule
? Hours/Week: 40 hour per week
? Shift/Hours/Days: Day Shift; Monday through Friday, days, with variable start times that may include rotated extended hours and Saturdays in the future (nontraditional including further weekends/holidays commitment) based on patient and volume needs.
? This position consists of a hybrid work schedule with one business/admin day a week and at least 80% of appointment fraction onsite but is subject to change as needs of the unit change.
? Location: Von Voigtlander Women?s and Children Hospital, 1540 E Hospital Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48109 and other clinic locations as needed.
Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
