Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed, however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify.
Under the general direction of the Deputy Commissioner, Climate and Sustainability Branch, the Research Data Specialist I (RDS I) position will report to the Deputy Commissioner, and will be responsible for developing data analysis approaches, comparing Risk Mitigation and modeling information, and prioritizing policies that reduce Climate Risks, including those related to wildfire, extreme heat, and flooding events. Occasional travel may be required within and/or outside the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.).

Working Conditions

  • Eligible for telework in accordance with CDIs Telework policy . This position offers a flexible telework option. (Telework REQUIRES CALIFORNIA RESIDENCE per the policy for California Department of Insurance).

  • Copy of BA degree:
    Incumbents must possess 12 semester or 18 quarter units course work in any combination of a data driven research-related field, such as economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, statistics, data science or a research-related field. This must include at least one course in statistical methods; and Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree. Work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis by applicants who have the required units mentioned above.
