This position will follow our hybrid work model; we expect the selected candidate to be in the office 2-3 days a week at one of the following Corporate Office locations: St. Petersburg, FL, Memphis, TN, or Southfield, MI.
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, uses intermediate skills obtained through experience and training to process the delivery and receipt of equity and/or or debt securities utilizing the DTCC or Fed Reserve settlement systems. Several reports and databases are used to make deliveries and process the settlement of trades. Actively participates in balancing the daily settlement. Interaction with various departments or contra firms regarding trade and fail problems is required. Assist in record keeping and follow through on the buy-in desk. Overtime may be required due to heavy trade volume and/or balancing reconcilement. Cross-training on other job functions in the department is expected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs the daily settlement process - make deliveries, match receives, run corresponding entries in the SIS or Impact system
• Monitors firm equity and bond deficits to ensure the firm is 15c-3 compliant
• Reviews, researches, and resolves trade problems and out of balances.
• Assists in the issuance and processing of buy-in notices to ensure fail resolution in compliance with industry regulations.
• Processes ACAT fails, reversals and update the required databases.
• Assists co-workers as needed to meet settlement deadlines.
• Analyzes current procedures and offers improvement suggestions to improve workflow, accuracy and efficiency as well as reducing costs.
• Updates and reviews department procedures as processes change.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
• Basic mathematical/bookkeeping skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions, averages and balancing sufficient to complete settlement.
• DTC and Fed depository settlement rules and time cut-off
• 15c-3 possession and control rules regarding customer fully paid securities and fail resolution
• Reg T as applicable to DVP account
• MSRB Rule G-12 municipal close out
• General office practices, procedures and methods.
• General accounting procedures.
Skill In:
• Operating standard office equipment and the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access) at an intermediate to high level.
• Accurate 10 Key and data entry
• Organization and time management sufficient to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Ability to:
• Work well under pressure due to stringent timeframes and high trade volume.
• Adjust to fluctuations in work volume and changes to assignment priorities.
• Maintain accuracy when running entries or delivering shares through the various depositories.
• Communicate information orally and written in a clear and effective manner sufficient to interact with internal associates and external contacts at all levels.
• Research and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 (two) years general work experience
