Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Associate Quality Engineer/Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
As an Associate Quality Engineer/Quality Engineer, this job function requires:

  • An extensive review of engineering drawings along with equipment inspection and test support to evaluate the precision and accuracy of products being developed
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), maintainability and producibility aspects of a design
  • Supporting various design reviews and inspections of the testing processes, mechanisms, systems integration and requirements verification
  • An extensive review of supplier documentation to verify compliance to quality standards and contractual requirements as they pertain to the equipment being procured
  • Quality assurance verification on systems and equipment designed, built and procured to ensure design parameters and materials meet required standards and specifications
  • Interfacing with multiple suppliers, processing discrepant material tags, interfacing with stakeholder groups such as Liaison Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Global supply Chain, etc
  • Review of engineering drawings along with equipment inspection and test support to evaluate the precision and accuracy of products being developed
  • Driving corrective and preventive action to ensure continual improvement along with investigating and determining root causes of problems
  • Providing imaginative, thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of technical problems through the application of quality engineering disciplines and tools
  • Good organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong computer skills necessary along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • DOD Clearance Required to start

Basic Qualifications - Associate Quality Engineer:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, etc.) and no years of experience
  • An Active, In-scope, DoD Secret Security Clearance with the last investigation occurring within the last five (5) years with the ability to obtain program access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Knowledge of CAD software (i.e., AutoCAD, CATIA, Solid Works, NX) and MS Office Suite

Basic Qualifications - Quality Engineer:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, etc.) with 2 years of experience in Quality OR a Master's Degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, etc.) with 0 years of experience in Quality Assurance or related field
  • An Active, In-scope, DoD Secret level Security Clearance with the last investigation occurring within the last five (5) years with the ability to obtain program access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Knowledge of CAD software (i.e., AutoCAD, CATIA, Solid Works, NX) and MS Office Suite
  • Experience with reviewing engineering drawings

Preferred Qualifications - Associate Quality Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science/Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • The ability to effectively communicate with suppliers and customers

Preferred Qualifications - Associate Quality Engineer/Quality Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science/Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge of AS9102 First Article and AS9103 Key Characteristic requirements
  • The ability to effectively communicate with suppliers and customers
  • Experience participating in the Material Review Board process
  • Strong Organizational and Leadership Skills
  • Experience with Supplier Engagement
  • Experience with Root Cause/Corrective Action
  • Experience with Material Review Board
  • Experience with Laboratory Operations

Salary Range: $68,500.00 - $102,700.00Salary Range 2: $56,600.00 - $85,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
