CLEANROOM CARPENTER: JOURNEYMEN & APPRENTICES

POSITION SUMMARY

Okland is now seeking skilled carpenters to join our team on a large-scale new semiconductor facility project. This position is responsible for supporting our cleanroom and semiconductor facility construction on new building structures. Ideal candidates will have prior construction carpentry experience. Other experience in high-tech and/or cleanrooms will be considered, as well as other experiences that require a high degree of accuracy within the construction industry. This position will work under the supervision of the foreman and general foreman but is able to perform duties without supervision on all tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a variety of tasks involving the use of hand tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and sketches.
  • Prepare layouts.
  • Perform skilled carpentry work, such as repairing and constructing all aspects of architectural building.
  • Assist with the installation of cleanroom assembly and components.
  • Construct, erect, install, and repair structures.
  • Grout and set prefabricated platforms and foundations.
  • Wood and metal stud framing.
  • Complete tasks such as, but not limited to, concrete forms and braces, handrails, stairs,
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools and shop machinery.
  • Receive materials and off load in a safe and proficient manner.
  • Assist the superintendent in performing duties.
  • Prepare surfaces for paint and other.
  • Performs functions according to company and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
  • Performs other duties as determined and required by project need.
  • Marks reference points or cutting lines on work pieces, and measures materials or distances using pencil, scriber, square, measuring tape, or rule to lay out work.
  • Operates vehicles, mechanized devices, and/or equipment as required and if certified.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in skilled carpentry.
  • Experienced in all aspects of carpentry as well as drywall installation, floor tiles, walls and ceilings, cleanroom installation and/or cabinetry work.
  • Previous experience in carpentry, maintenance, or other related fields.
  • Construction or Fabrication using general carpentry processes involving wood, metal, and plastic materials.
  • Performing all general work on-site that may include hanging electronics, building cabinetry, assembling shelving units, hanging signage, among other various work that may be assigned to the carpentry department.
  • Perform construction site tasks in a safe manner.
  • Be able to follow work area protocol for PPE and cleanliness requirements, as working in a "clean environment".
  • Safely use table saws, drills, air tools, and various hand tools.

  • Required to be exact, highly accurate, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to lead, guide, and direct other crew members.
  • Ability to receive instructions and work effectively as a team.
  • Ability to work in constrictive attire, wearing appropriate personal protective safety equipment as required, and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to self-perform various tasks without supervision.
  • Ability to identify and handle proper tools for specific functions.
  • Ability to listen and follow directions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to pay attention to details in small areas.
  • Ability to be responsible for the health and safety of others by working safely.
  • Ability to adhere to strict quality control measures.
  • Ability to read and understand a tape measure.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close and far vision, and color vision. The employee is also required to frequently inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. Additional requirements include:

  • Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.

Hazards: May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold as well as certain unsafe environments; occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and electrical equipment; possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles; possible exposure to internal liquids. This is a safety sensitive position where a momentary lapse of attention can result in serious injury or death. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally very loud. Must follow all safety requirements carefully. Must provide own prescription safety glasses and boots.
