The Denver Post, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Class A Driver to join the team!
What you will do:
- Count and load carts and skids with newspaper bundles on to delivery trucks
- Count and verify products that are delivered each night to circulation
- Receive distribution manifest from transportation office
- Pull completed skids of product from palletizer lines and hand stick lines
- Unload trucks (trailers) of empty cannon carts and empty skids
- Unload Valassis carts and skids and assist in breaking down split Valassis products and placing in carts
- Assist in the break down of the National Pubs
- Organize cannon carts and skids near loading docks for designated stations
- Sort and setup polybags and other items for shipping
- Operate MTC Scanning equipment
- Drive class "A" Tractor / Trailer and Box trucks to assigned distribution centers to deliver daily product
- Assist with warehouse clean out of newspaper leftover containers, carts, pallets, paperwork and related items from station and return to production facility
- Deliver carrier supplies to the warehouses and complete verification process with the distribution center personnel
- Chaining power equipment when required
- Parking equipment in assigned locations
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
What you will bring:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have current Colorado Class A drivers license with less than 8 points on Motor Vehicle Record, no DUI or DWI violations, or leaving the scene of an accident within the last 3 years
- Conform to all DOT hours of service regulations
- A current DOT medical card
- In-house pallet jack trained and certified
- Self motivated
- Ability to communicate with packaging and other departments in a professional manner
Physical Requirements:
- Stand 30% of shift, Walk 30% of shift, Drive 40% of shift
- Ability to lift, carry, and stack 40 lb. bundles; Crouch over to pick up papers, and twist body to load
- Climb in and out of class C truck
- Ability to push 1000-pound steel carts
- Operate power, manual pallet jacks, and riding pallet jacks
- Push full containers of leftover newspapers on and off of the trailers and to the baler room
- Outside work in adverse weather conditions
The hourly wage is $22.60. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
