DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position is under the Northwest Region’s Waterways and Wetlands Program Permitting Section. As a trainee you will gain on-the-job training learning the duties of a Civil Engineer Hydraulic. You will gain experience in reviewing engineering problems specifically in hydrologic and hydraulic design. This includes technical review and solving of complex engineering problems in hydraulic design.
Furthermore, you will participate in field work within the Northwest region. This includes participating in flood disaster activities and in emergency preparedness programs. Additional information can be found on the position description.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Four years of Civil Engineering experience, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or in a closely related field, which includes or was supplemented by major course work in Civil Engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes possession of an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position also requires possession of a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
