Description:
Tazewell County (population 131,400) is located in Central Illinois along the Illinois River with a quality environment and a rich history. The Highway Department has 19 full-time employees who are responsible for the maintenance of 204 miles of county highway and 794 miles of township roads with associated drainage structures as well as 185 bridges.
The Civil Engineer Technician position, being under the direction of the County Engineer and Assistant County Engineer, performs moderately difficult professional Civil Engineering duties in connection with the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of public improvement projects. The Civil Engineer Technician ensures sound engineering practices and compliance with County, State, and Federal codes, standards, and ordinances.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Experience, $27.66 to $41.37 per hour
HOURS OF WORK: 40 Hours/Week but depends on work activity
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering or other related field from a technical program or an accredited college and at least two (2) years construction, field, surveying experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid State of Illinois Class D or higher driver’s license with a safe driving record required
- Working knowledge of CADD, GPS systems, engineering and survey devices, instruments, testing and sampling equipment preferred
