Civil Engineer - Land Development

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Civil Engineer - Land Development to join our Buildings – Land Development Team at our office from Syracuse, NY.

CHA's Land Development team has extensive experience working alongside developers, regulatory agencies, local review boards, consultants, and local communities. The team carefully considers code compliance, site layouts, stormwater drainage, water and sanitary services, and environmental impacts and strives to find the most efficient and cost-effective approach leading to a successful project. With all those moving parts, CHA understands the importance of a well-planned project spanning from conceptual layout and cost-effective design to construction documents and permitting assistance through construction. CHA has completed thousands of projects across the country, including millions of square feet of warehouse, retail, mixed-use, and residential projects for private developers, as well as parks and recreational facilities, trails, sidewalk and streetscape improvements, port facilities, stream restorations, major utility extensions, public housing, and entertainment venues for public/government agencies.

Working alongside CHA’s professional engineers, the Civil Engineer - Land Development supports the design development, implementation, and technical analysis of technical various systems to implement new products, or changes to an existing scheme, to suit individual client needs. This professional aids in preparing technical reports, contract documents and cost estimates for various engineering tasks. The individual in this role works on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements.

Additionally, the Civil Engineer - Land Development identifies technical discrepancies in analytical results and makes appropriate corrections. This individual develops and maintains a familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the firm’s and client’s practices, procedures, and standards.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of related Engineering experience required
• Strong knowledge of engineering, computational, and modeling software (AutoCAD, etc.)
• Has a strong theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering field
• Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective engineering discipline
• Familiar with QA/QC procedures
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
• Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
• Ability to travel (local site visits)
