SALARY $72,624.00 - $116,198.00 ANNUALLY

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.

PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

A City Planner II performs planning projects of a complex, innovative and creative nature independently. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities but may involve work as a project leader.

Incumbents receive minimal supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek that may include evening and weekend hours. Work is performed in an office where normal working conditions are encountered. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:

EDUCATION: A master's degree from an accredited college or university in urban or regional planning, sustainability, environmental studies, historic preservation, architecture, architectural history, nutrition, public administration, public health or a closely related field such as transportation.

AND

EXPERIENCE: Have two years of experience in performing urban, regional, transportation, environmental, sustainability, food access, emergency, or historic designation planning work.

OR

NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES): Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: Some positions in this class may require a Maryland Class C driver’s license.
