POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for directly supervising the children in their care while parents are utilizing the facility. The Child Watch staff is expected to create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. The Child Watch Staff is responsible for the safety and well-being of the child/children in their care.
2. Directly interacting with Child/Children.
3. Responsible for ensuring the Child Watch room is kept clean.
4. Ensuring that proper sign-in and sign-out procedures are followed at all times.
5. Maintaining proper registration cards on all children utilizing the service.
6. Using positive guidance techniques that incorporate the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility when working with children, families and coworkers.
7. Establishing and maintaining positive and productive relationships with families.
8. Attending all trainings and staff meetings as required by department.
9. Maintaining a professional appearance and attitude that reflects the YMCA at all times, upholding the policies outlined in the YMCA Personnel Policy handbook and Child Care Parent Handbook.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum 16 years of age.
2. At least 3 months OJT or 1-2 years working with small children.
3. Must like working with children.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. A commitment to continuous quality program improvements.
6. Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid within 30 days of hire.
7. Completion of required trainings.
8. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Able to lift and carry 15-50 lbs.
2. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position.
3. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
4. Must be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.
