Primary Purpose
The Child Care Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Wonder Fun Academy LLC (WFA). This position is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operations, curriculum oversight, staff/student retention and achievement, parent /community relations, and strategic planning for the childcare program. Assists the Executive Director in carrying out his responsibilities, including planning and aligning policies and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Provide coordination of schedules and supervision of staff. The Child Care Director must perform a variety of highly responsible, confidential, and complex administrative duties including, but not limited to, parent tours, bookkeeping, updating procedures, record maintenance, curriculum development, staffing and other duties as assigned related to the running of the facility.
Essential Job Functions
• Operations Mgmt. – The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of childcare experience, including hiring, directing, motivating staff, and building relationships with children and parents.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Be knowledgeable and compliant of Rule 3 and how to find answers within.
Minimum requirement of at least two years preschool experience as a Director. Transcripts must be provided. Must have the ability to juggle multiple duties, be energetic, detailed oriented, and the ability to resolve conflicts. Act as a troubleshooter/intermediary by informing the Executive Director of needs, problems, or important matters.
This position will lead a team of 15-20 staff at full capacity; all will work together to offer quality education in a safe and nurturing environment.
Computer proficiency, including Google Docs, and Sheets, and learning other programs/software. Compose memos and letters.
Attends and holds effective staff meetings; attends parent events/family programs.
Must be CPR and First Aid Certified.
Fill in as needed for absent staff.
Assists staff with the weekly development and execution of the curriculum and program activities.
Maintains a clean and sanitary environment with knowledge of licensing rules, certifications, and credentialing by operating to state (Minnesota) and local licensing requirements.
Purchase supplies, equipment, food, and other materials necessary for Child Care Operations.
Assist with projects, events, contracts, and grants.
Ensure a safe environment for the children in our care.
Completes annual inspections within the required time frame with the fire department, Department of Health, etc., as required. Maintaining accurate records for childcare programs, facilities, and staff.
Inspects items within the Child Care center for safety hazards, damage, or wear.
Preferred skills
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Assisted with initial Child Care center licensing
Food Protection Managers Certification or Food Handler card
