CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid California teaching or other related services credential
2. Valid California Administrative Services credential
3. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, business administration, management information systems or other related field of study desired
4. Experience with school district data and information systems and strategies and education technology initiatives desired
5. Extensive experience in providing leadership and the development of technology strategies aligned with district goals
6. Core understanding of technology structure, capabilities, and possibilities
7. Possess knowledge of and willingness to remain current with trends, best practices, and innovations in technology
8. Ability to compile, code, categorize, calculate, analyze, complex data and information and prepare concise reports
9. Demonstrated ability in supervision of technical and non-technical personnel
10. Demonstrated success working with people at all levels of the organization in establishing goals, objectives, and action plans to produce expected results
11. Experience managing in-house and shared or outsources systems, multiple hardware platforms and integrated information and communication systems
REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned
SUPERVISES: Staff as assigned
FUNCTION: To provide vision and leadership for developing, implementing, and managing instructional technology initiatives and functions. To assist with the development and implementation of District decisions related to education technology by collaborating closely with school leaders and district staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Creates and manages the District's educational technological vision and plans so they align with District goals
  2. Oversees, directs, and manages the operations and activities of the District's educational technology services; leads strategic, operational, and tactical planning for the development, evaluation, and coordination of District educational technology systems
  3. Manages and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and standards as it pertains to the District's educational technology plan
  4. Researches and recommends new educational technologies to implement to accelerate work processes
  5. Provides technical and administrative expertise in the development and support of computerized technology systems
  6. Monitors trends, developments, and best practices in information technologies and evaluates their applicability to District educational goals
  7. Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the performance of assigned staff
  8. Ensures timely and efficient delivery of educational technology support services to District staff and events
  9. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information
  10. Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned

SALARY: $142,679 - $172,600 annually (223 day)
(max. salary includes longevity and educational stipends)
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's "Improvement of Professional Services" handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
