PII develops and distributes life insurance, retirement products, accident and health products, and other financial services to a broad range of customers through our subsidiaries in Japan, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. Chief Operations Officer, Emerging Markets is responsible for supporting the profitable growth of PII Emerging Markets region through advice and capability support in strategic areas of the business. The role has oversight of the strategy management and business development processes, serving as the first point of contact for several centralized functions, as well as leading PII EM capability teams. The position reports to the President of Emerging Markets and works closely with PII business leaders and PII/PFI functional leaders.
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Provide oversight and guidance for several functional teams (Compliance, Risk, Legal, etc.) as well as PII Capability teams (Marketing, Digital, Strategy, Business Development, etc.) while working directly for the President of Emerging Markets.
- Determine when to escalate issues and concerns to President of Emerging Markets and/or other members of PII Senior Leadership.
- Accountable for ensuring harmonized and organized intersection points across the EM ecosystem between functional teams, capability teams, and business groups.
Operations Oversight:
- Accountable for simplifying processes and removing roadblocks within PII and PFI to ensure high levels of efficiency and limited redundancy of activities between PII and international in-country markets.
- Enables the execution of PII's empowered country operating model framework. Facilitates issue resolution and decision making that may require senior executive engagement.
- Ensure markets business and operational plans get the right level of review and are provided with the right level of debate, discussion, and challenge from internal partners across Prudential in a streamlined and efficient manner.
Strategic Partner:
- Connect dots for capability teams and in market teams as well as support the right connections across PFI to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Ensure President of Emerging Markets is equipped with best thinking around investment and partnership opportunities across Emerging Markets in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
- As a member of senior staff, contribute to decisions that impact long term growth of the Emerging Markets in all domains.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Track record of high performance in a diverse operating environment with a demonstrated interest in high complexity positions.
- Ability to manage complex relationships and to solve situations of misalignment between different and distinct business teams.
- Outcomes driven with a track record of taking concepts from the ideation phase through to execution.
- Understanding of key business KPIs, business strategies, and levers that can be pulled to drive growth.
- Deep exposure to some international markets highly preferred
- Experience working closely with business teams (within or in support of) as well as functional partners.
