Monarch E&S, a division of SPG Insurance Solutions (Monarch) is a rapidly growing, and successful property and casualty insurance wholesaler and managing general agency based in Burbank, CA with branches in MA, FL, & VA. We sell exclusively to retail agencies across the country with a focus on small to mid-market E&S commercial and specialty personal lines risks.
About the Position:
Monarch is seeking an energetic and motivated Chief Operating Officer (COO) for our national platform. This position will report directly to the President and will be a key member of the executive management team. The role will focus on creating process efficiency and operational excellence in all aspects of the business as measured by customer satisfaction, account retention, new business success and profitability. The position will include people management responsibilities over operations service leaders and staff.
Responsibilities include the following:

  • Work with the leadership team and staff to develop and implement next generation business process and work flows to improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of digital "end to end" client service and agency management solution.
  • Coordinate with branch operation leaders and managers efforts to continually ensure quality service is provided to our clients on a timely and consistent basis.
  • Develop emerging leadership by coaching and mentoring operational leaders and assisting them with their day-to-day operational duties and interactions with their team members.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization.
  • Serve as liaison between branch operational leaders and the Executive Management Team.
  • Oversee facilities, carrier contract management, compliance and other operational and administrative functions.
  • Coordinate the integration of newly acquired organizations.
  • Act as project lead to coordinate and implement corporate project initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Internal Brokers, Underwriters, and other key staff.
  • Oversee training and education initiatives for service staff to ensure technical knowledge and skills are consistent with job requirements, utilizing and requesting resources as needed.

Work Experience Requirements:
  • Five to ten years of P&C operations experience required.
  • Minimum of five years supervision experience required.
  • Knowledge of wholesale brokerage and MGA operations preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • E&S/Surplus Lines experience, preferred.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to manage complex tasks, provide analysis, and monitor quality metrics.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong computer skills, including high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of agency management platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to persuade others.
  • Must be able to travel by air and vehicle across the country (Travel 25%).
  • Excellent customer service and strong communication skills including the ability to interact within all levels of the organization.
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with risk management controls.
