WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will provide oversight of all day-to-day operations across the enterprise, ensuring seamless and integrated coordination across multiple units and lines of business, driving operational excellence throughout the organization based on performance based outcomes and measurements.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In close collaboration with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), this position provides strategic leadership, management and oversight to establish effective operation controls, streamlined administrative procedures, and robust reporting systems.
  • Enables the organization to achieve superior program performance resulting in financial strength and operational efficiency.
  • Propels the organization towards achievement of existing objectives, and new/aspirational goals. 
  • Responsible for the development, support and execution of strategic initiatives that result in revitalization, optimization and growth throughout the organization.
  • Expands meaningful employment opportunities for our clients and population(s) of focus.
  • Fosters a multitude of entrepreneurial endeavors and capitalizes on opportunities for the organization to develop, progress, evolve, modernize, and achieve new and unprecedented results through innovative programs and services.
  • Implements efficient and effective business strategies, tactics and priorities strongly rooted in our vision and core values.
  • Drives operational outcomes that align with our newly crafted mission and criteria for choice.  

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads and oversees the ongoing operations of each division within our organization, including manufacturing, behavioral health, residential reentry, housing, and workforce development.
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction, ensuring that both programmatic and financial goals are achieved.
  • Leads and oversees key executive decision-making processes, including acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, and large-scale expansion opportunities.
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration and unity among divisions, creating an environment where all are aligned to common objectives and shared goals.
  • Directly leads several divisions and multiple departments, including (but not limited to) Enterprises Division (Aerospace Manufacturing, Distribution, & Food Services), Housing, Real Estate & Facilities Division, and Corporate Safety.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources and other leaders, supports the refinement and execution of performance management systems across the organization, driving continuous improvement and enhancing outcomes.
  • Sponsors and oversees all corporate-level projects and initiatives, ensuring their successful execution.
  • Establishes and executes a comprehensive corporate safety program, prioritizing the health and well-being of our employees.
  • Creates an engaging and inclusive culture that values a committed and qualified workforce, fostering their professional growth, development, accountability, and empowerment.

 

PEOPLE, COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK

  • Operates with a strong sense of purpose, objectivity and intentionality in the planning and execution of strategic people initiatives (organization structure/design, employee engagement, workforce planning, compensation, etc.) that will positively impact the performance and effectiveness of the programs and services under this position’s scope and authority and throughout the organization at large.
  • Partners effectively with Human Resources at all stages of these initiatives to ensure compliance and alignment, and to leverage HR expertise and consultation in all people actions. 
  • As a member of the senior leadership team, collaborates effectively with peers, consistently displaying transparency in actions and the highest levels of integrity, trust, cooperation, communication, adaptability, and teamwork.
  • Conducts formal performance management evaluations for all directs reports on an annual basis, informal P&D conversations throughout the rest of the year, and ensure that all people leaders throughout the organization are meeting these expectations in support of and in alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the company.
  • Leads, oversees and promotes organizational efforts and processes to enhance collaboration and teamwork, creating a diverse and inclusive work environment focused on productivity, engagement, satisfaction, and well-being.
  • Advises the CEO and SLT immediately on any organizational concerns that threaten the culture and performance of the organization.

 

OPERATIONAL, PROGRAM AND FISCAL OVERSIGHT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides visionary leadership and management oversight that embodies the mission and core values of our organization.
  • Drives the business enterprises and units to achieve and surpass sales, business goals, and financial targets.
  • Continuously evaluates and optimizes internal and external processes to enhance our overall effectiveness.
  • Delivers timely, accurate, and comprehensive reports on the operational posture of the company, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Leads the execution of innovative growth strategies and processes, steering us towards new opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure, ensuring scalability to support our rapid growth objectives.
  • Reviews financial results and take decisive measures to correct any underperformance, fostering financial sustainability.
  • Ensures strict compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards, maintaining our commitment to ethical practices.

  • In-depth understanding of management and financial practices across all facets of business operations.
  • Strong financial and accounting acumen, capable of navigating the complexities of our diverse business landscape.
  • Ability to work with all internal/external stakeholders, agencies, and entities

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

(Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)

  • Graduate Degree in business, finance or related field
  • More than 15 years’ experience in operational leadership roles within similar industries
  • Proven track record with at least 10 years’ experience in P/L management, successfully guiding companies with greater than $30m in revenue
  • Experience in aerospace and/or manufacturing
  • Healthcare experience highly desired

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Professional office environment. 
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
  • Must be able to handle stress that is involved in meeting deadlines and working on high volume projects. 
  • Must be flexible and able to interact with employees at all levels. 
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations within Washington state. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and possible out-of-city travel may be expected.
