Summary:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Valley Health Partners Community Health Center (VHP) reports to the Chief Executive Officer and provides operational leadership and direction for VHPCHC’s Health Centers. The COO demonstrates executive level experience in strategic thinking and decision making. They promote the development, implementation, and operation of programs by developing and enforcing operational policies, procedures, and workflows, identifying potential or existing operational risks, and developing strategies to minimize same. The COO continually assesses and implements initiatives to meet quality standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and health plans. The COO is knowledgeable and adept in business practices and precepts, exercising appropriate capital stewardship. The COO works in close partnership with the executive team to develop long term operational strategy and to set annual goals for the health center. They are responsible for achieving the financial and operational goals of VHP.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in business, Public Health, or in a related field
Experience: 7-10 years of related healthcare operations leadership required. More than 10 years of healthcare operations leadership preferred.
Essential Functions:
Collaborates with the Leadership Team in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs.
- Develops actional business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.
- Implements effective tools to improve operational efficiency and control costs.
- Participates in the development, project management, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies and efficient processes.
- Directs operational coordination and planning related to patient accounts, referrals, and medical records so that services are delivered effectively and efficiently in a patient centered manner that ensures staff are working to the top of their respective credential(s).
Leads the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals for VHP.
- Develops and implements systems for reporting, measurement, and revenue generation.
- Monitors performance, implements corrective measures as needed, and prepares detailed actual and forecasting reports.
- Applies an intersectional racial equity lens when developing strategies, designing systems, and cultivating culture.
- Analyzes internal operations and identifies areas of process improvement.
- Serves as management liaison to the board and board committees; effectively communicates and presents operational information at board of directors & committee meetings.
- Translates strategy into actionable and measurable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning.
Oversees health center operations, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.
- Leads and manages the operations team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Assures compliance of all HRSA program requirements.
- Adheres to federal, state, and local requirements, enforces compliance, and takes action when necessary.
- Ensures effective systems, processes and performance management arrangements are in place to deliver high standards of performance and high quality of patient services.
- Promotes and lives the values of VHP and fosters a culture which enables and motivates staff to deliver outstanding care to our patients and customers.
- Drives service development, modernization and innovation across the divisions, promoting a culture of continuous service improvement.
Maintains and builds trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Coaches and develops the team to ensure they are delivering against key business metrics.
- Works collaboratively to develop and/or improve systems, processes, controls, and procedures that improve VHP’s overall efficiency and ensure excellent patient services.
- Promotes and lives the values of VHP and fosters a culture which enables and motivates staff to deliver outstanding care to our patients and customers.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Leadership Team.
