Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airplane Mechanic to assume the role of Director of Aircraft Maintenance for our FAA Part 91 corporate flight department. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing the maintenance of a Gulfstream 550 aircraft, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable transportation of company employees and customers. Our flight department has been an integral part of Crown Holdings Inc. for over 40 years and recently relocated to Tampa International Airport to support our mission.
Responsibilities:
Airplane Mechanic Duties:
1. Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections to ensure the aircraft's airworthiness and safety.
2. Perform routine and non-routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on the Gulfstream 550 aircraft according to FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications.
3. Troubleshoot and diagnose aircraft systems, components, and avionics to identify and rectify issues promptly.
4. Order, receive, and manage aircraft parts and materials, maintaining a well-organized inventory.
5. Document all maintenance activities, including log entries, maintenance reports, and records of work performed.
6. Collaborate with the Director of Airplane Maintenance to plan scheduled maintenance and coordinate aircraft availability for such tasks.
7. Respond to unscheduled maintenance requirements promptly and efficiently to minimize downtime.
8. Ability to work a flexible work schedule to support operational commitments.
Director of Aircraft Maintenance Duties:
1. Lead all maintenance activities of assigned aircraft, to include implementing the maintenance standards, methods, and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer’s recommendations and company policies.
2. Manage augmentation of additional contract maintenance personnel, as required, to ensure aircraft maintenance is completed to meet operational objectives.
3. Create and manage the annual maintenance budget, optimizing cost-effectiveness while maintaining safety and reliability.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers to ensure the availability of high-quality aircraft parts and services.
5. Coordinate and schedule all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and overhauls, to minimize disruptions to flight operations.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, expenditures, and the aircraft's maintenance history.
7. Ensure the company aircraft is compliant with all applicable airworthiness directives and service bulletins.
8. Performs internal audits of tool calibration and material control and ensure that adequate tools, parts, materials, support equipment, and facilities are available to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
9. Implement safety protocols and best practices to enhance the overall safety of the flight department's ground and flight operations. Active participation in the Department’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) program.
Qualifications:
Director of Aircraft Maintenance:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification required.
- FAA Inspector Authorization (IA) certification required.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Corporate Aircraft Maintenance Operations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.

- Thorough knowledge of FAA regulations, airworthiness standards, and aviation safety practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Must be located or willing to relocate to within 1 hour of Tampa International Airport, FL (KTPA)
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel, or reach. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, or sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision required for this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
