JOB SUMMARY:
The Chief Financial Officer is the finance business partner with the Hill York leadership team and will lead the financial activities of the company, direct the preparation of monthly financial reporting, and develop annual operating and capital plans encompassing strategic initiatives. The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, and IT related activities. This person works across the organization, collaborating with all facets of the business. This person is a self-motivator who routinely sets and exceeds their own goals. This person possesses exceptional leadership skills, who sets the example for integrity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead, direct, and manage the finance, accounting, and IT teams.
- Prepare GAAP compliant financial statements.
- Ensure accurate cost reporting and allocation of labor, material, and overhead.
- Monitor and report on financial performance by developing and evaluating Key Performance Indicators to proactively manage the business and mitigate emerging issues
- Oversee month-end close process
- Develop and lead annual plan process and drive accountability of Balance Sheet and P&L achievement as compared to plan and prior year.
- Prepare financial forecasts that will focus on attainment of annual financial results compared to plan. Provide risks and opportunities.
- Responsible for tax and risk management reporting programs to corporate.
- Conduct monthly WIP reviews with Operations and divisional leaders to evaluate job performance, assess risks, and proactively manage change orders.
- Promote best practices in cash flow management – credit, billings, and collections - to mitigate bad debt and maximize cash flow.
- Ensure assets are safeguarded and accounted for appropriately.
- Update strategic direction working with executive management team as competitive forces and opportunities warrant.
- Ensure designed effective internal controls remain in place to comply with GAAP, SOX, and applicable federal, state and local regulatory / tax laws.
- Clearly communicate and help drive the operational and financial goals of the company.
- Concise communication of financial health of the company to local leadership and to the divisional headquarters.
- Ensure commissions are calculated accurately and timely.
- Coordinate with internal/external auditors, when applicable, to ensure successful engagement, provide requested materials/schedules, and information needed to support the audit.
- Act as mentor and coach to elevate staff.
- Perform performance reviews of all direct reports. Provide sound coaching and feedback to grow the team.
- Lead ERP migrations/implementations or upgrades as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 8 years Accounting / Finance experience
- Previous CFO experience preferred
- Previous experience in HVAC or like Construction / Services related industries preferred
- Experience with percentage-of-completion project (WIP) accounting
- Fundamental knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley
- Experience managing a team of direct reports
- Ability to communicate clearly- written and verbal
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Excel is preferred
- Familiarity with One stream or like consolidation reporting software
