Summary

The Chief Finance Officer supports the President/CEO in compiling and analyzing data to make strategic financial decisions for Friends For All in conjunction with the Board of Directors. They work directly with the President/CEO to analyze and interpret financial information. Chief Finance Officer coordinates with multiple departments and external auditors to complete the annual audit as well as audits of Federal and State grants. The manage the Controller and the Finance staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Collaborate with leadership team in developing and implementing strategies to optimize daily operations and achieve growth and organizational objectives

  • Serve on Friends For All's leadership team
  • Oversee the Finance Department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions
  • Oversee all financial, program and grants accounting
  • Coordinate the preparation and review of annual financial statements including key metrics and ratios.
  • Research and investigate variances from expected results at cost center level
  • Oversee cash, investment cash flow and asset management
  • Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the President/CEO and Board of Directors
  • Support the President/CEO and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors in development of short, medium and long-term financial plans and projections
  • Work with the President/CEO and VP of Human Resources to evaluate and oversee all benefits negotiations
  • Monitor the Finance Department review and approval of individual grant reimbursement requests on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Review each new or amended federal, state or private grant for content with emphasis on allowable expenditures and financial reporting requirements
  • Coordinate the preparation and execution of the A-133 audit with the externalAuditors in conjunction with the President/CEO and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors; assess any changes necessary
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the President/CEO
  • Monitor Accounts Payable function and insure cash requirements are maintained.
  • Implement a robust financial management/ reporting system
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the Finance Department's overall policy and procedure manual to maintain and improve the quality and integrity of financial data
  • Remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain and coordinate relationships with outside finance related vendors, banks and financing companies.
  • Participate in weekly or biweekly coaching sessions with supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direct supervision accounting staff to ensure they meet all requirements.
  • Select, manage, and train support team.
  • Implement weekly coaching sessions and professional development plans with supervised employees to meet expectations and development objectives. Provide signed weekly written staffing sheet to the employee every week.
  • Work with HR on all aspects of employee relations (recruiting, onboarding, training, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, terminations and any other employee issues)
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in accounting / finance with 10+ years of progressively increased finance management experience.
  • CPA preferred
  • Good strategic/critical thinker, self-starter, goal-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to operate with purpose, urgency and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment -- with particular attention to detail and organization
  • Strong relationship-builder both with team and clients(internal and external)
  • Competence in Excel and other Microsoft applications as well as Adobe
  • Competence in Sharepoint and other applications
  • Regular and predictable attendance is necessary.
  • Maintain confidential information and adhere to all Friends For All policies and procedures regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have a valid State Driver’s License, provide proof of automobile insurance coverage to employer at all times and have an automobile to be used daily.

OSHA CATEGORY:

This position performs tasks that may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Training will be provided per Standard Operating Procedure for your area of operation. All FFA employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series.
