The mission of Wynona's House is to promote justice and provide healing for child victims of abuse and neglect in Essex County, New Jersey. We do this by coordinating investigations, prosecution, treatment, and prevention services for children and non-offending families utilizing innovative, evidence-based, multi-disciplinary team approaches to improving outcomes for the children and families we serve. Wynona’s House revolutionized the process endured by children and families of Essex County coping with the aftermath of abuse and neglect. We are a collective of more than 70 multi-disciplinary advocates to help coordinate a cross-systems collaboration that leverages both public and private resources to improve outcomes addressing the problem of child abuse, neglect, and maltreatment within the 22 municipalities of Essex County.
Wynona’s House Child Advocacy Center of Essex County, NJ seeks an engaging, thoughtful, and strategic Chief Executive Officer to lead their mission into a new and exciting era. The Chief Executive Officer’s all-encompassing responsibilities are to provide management and oversight of the leadership team, drive the work of the organization, represent the agency within the community, and ensure the facility has a safe, warm, inviting, and child-friendly atmosphere in which cases of child abuse may be handled in the least traumatic environment possible.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
  • Develop and manage funding plans for all of the agency's services and activities in conjunction with the Board of Directors;
  • Assure the agency is staffed at all times with a full team of child sexual abuse specialists and support staff;
  • Identify and develop grant applications for program funding for new services and programs;
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols with the Board of Directors;
  • Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team approach to child abuse investigations involving medical personnel, child protection caseworkers, law enforcement, prosecutors, therapists, and victim advocates;
  • Advanced management and leadership skills such as strategic planning, marketing, fundraising, social media utilization, and program evaluation;
  • Represent the agency’s purpose, goals, and program by acting as Community Liaison;
  • Oversee the facility’s maintenance and management; coordinate and manage repairs and replacements to ensure it is always in good working order;
  • Arrange and plan staff and community trainings;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five years of progressive executive non-profit experience;
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field;
  • Experience in crisis intervention, sexual abuse, child development, the criminal justice system, medical social work, or related areas;
  • Knowledge of non-profit fiscal management, including the ability to write grants and/or supervise fund development;
  • Excellent networking skills to sustain existing and create new relationships between agencies and community organizations;
  • Management and leadership skills;
  • Ability to work with a basic database and spreadsheet computer programs;
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.

Preference will go to candidates who also have the following experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  • Experience in counseling and/or social work;
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse;
  • Experience in non-profit administration;
  • Knowledge of national child advocacy center model;
  • Ability to engage with key stakeholders utilizing a DEI-informed framework.
