Job description

Fahrenheit Advisors has been retained to assist our client in their search for a Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") to join their team.

Company Overview:

Our client is a leading global supplier of specialty metals and special purpose alloys. Their materials serve the application and fabrication requirements for a broad range of high technology industries and manufacturers ranging from aerospace, aviation, defense, electronics, energy, medical, optical, research and more.

Job Summary:

The CEO will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to our distribution company. This role requires a visionary leader who can drive operational excellence, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency in all supply chain and distribution processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership to drive the overall success and growth of the company.
  • Utilize C-level experience, preferably as a CEO, to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Drive a culture of quality throughout the organization, emphasizing continuous improvement and adherence to industry standards.

Operational Excellence:

  • Demonstrate a strong desire to focus on process improvement, system development, and organizational planning.
  • Combine entrepreneurial creativity with the ability to systematically implement ideas into actionable plans with clear roles, authorities, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Oversee all aspects of the operations, including production planning, scheduling, quality control, and inventory management.
  • Implement best practices to optimize processes, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency.

Financial Management:

  • Proven experience in managing and scaling mid-size companies.
  • Develop and manage the budget, ensuring financial targets are met while maintaining a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality or customer satisfaction.

Coaching and Team Collaboration:

  • Actively engage in coaching and mentoring direct reports to foster professional development.
  • Embrace a team-player mentality, working collaboratively with an active board and Private Equity sponsor.

Hands-On Leadership:

  • Exhibit a willingness to lead by example, getting hands-on and actively involved in operational aspects rather than remaining in an "ivory tower" leadership style.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting teamwork and employee development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within supply chain/distribution operations.
  • Possesses experience in navigating a Private Equity partnership.
  • Demonstrated involvement in executing and preferably leading/managing M&A integration plans.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency and achieving business objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of the distribution processes, quality control, and supply chain management.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Display flexibility and a willingness to travel.
