Analytical Chemist I provide accurate chemical and instrumental test results in support of R&D projects. This role will act as an analytical resource across the areas of method development, validation, transfer, and formulation support, mostly utilizing HPLC. The work will focus on the testing of Generic drug products for Assay, Uniformity, and Dissolution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Operation of liquid chromatography, dissolution, and related instrumentation.
o Conduct analytical testing related to product development, support, and method validation/transfers.
o Accomplishes assigned tasks following ddirectionsfrom others as to the specific approach or technique.
o Interpretation of data to help develop alternatives and solutions to problems that arise.
o Follows appropriate timelines; participates in activities in functional area; keeps own functional activities on schedule.
o Demonstrates knowledge in scientific techniques, theory, troubleshooting, etc.
o Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
BA/BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline required.
Experience:
Typically, 0 to 2 years of industrial pharmaceutical or related work experience.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Fundamental scientific understanding of the principles of liquid chromatography is required. Hands-on experience with HPLC instrumentation and data collection software is preferred. Demonstrated chromatographic experience testing solid oral dosage pharmaceuticals is beneficial, as is a working knowledge of cGMP, FDA, USP and ICH guidelines. Skills/Competencies: Self-starter with strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to successfully contribute to team investigations. Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced team setting, especially in a resource limited environment.
Other Skills:
Dissolution testing and / or GC experience would be a plus.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS / SCOPE:
This position reports to a Manager of Analytical Chemistry and has no direct reports.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical laboratory conditions. The laboratory facility is air conditioned and environmentally controlled. Employees are required to wear eye protection and lab coats while in the lab area. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 lbs. and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
