Expected Duration: 12 Months Contract
Job Type: full time, Contract, Onsite
Pay Range: $30.00/hr. on W2 (must be able to work on W2 without sponsorship)
Hours: Monday - Friday: 8am - 4 pm or 9 am - 5 pm shift.

Job Description:
This position supports R&D by using a variety of synthesis techniques, including hydrothermal synthesis of molecular sieves, by their post synthesis modification such as calcination, ion-exchange, forming, impregnation and other common techniques, and by generating characterization data on finished catalysts. All the results are then provided to the researchers.
Operating independently under limited supervision, the successful candidate will:
- Maintain a safe working environment by embracing Zero Incident Mindset and 5S concept.
- Work as part of the Team to complete complex tasks in a timely fashion, be a team player
- Perform synthesis of zeolites/molecular sieves in autoclaves ranging following written SOP and established recipes.
- Carry out post synthesis modification of zeolites including calcination and ion-exchange
- Make observations during the experiments and report/discuss these observations with the researchers
- Document in detail all syntheses and post synthesis sample modifications in the Electronic Lab Notebook and shared drives, keep the notebook up-to-date with experiments
- Document and organize collection of samples for possible testing and evaluation in the future
- Follow all prescribed sample labeling requirements and always follow the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Use analytical systems to submit samples for chemical or physical analysis; Compile analytical data returned and summarize results, and report to supervisor.
- Recognize when results are not meeting expectations. Either resolve minor problems through established troubleshooting techniques or advise the supervisor of these deviations.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to catalogue and / or plot results and maintain Excel Summary files
Qualifications:
The position requires BS in Chemistry/Material Science with no experience OR 2 years of college in a related scientific discipline plus 3 years of laboratory experience
Other requirements include:
- Prior experience with chemical processes, batch reactors, or analytical test equipment.
- Strong hands-on experience and knowledge in maintaining and trouble-shooting lab equipment
- Strong math aptitude for percent calculations, recipe scale-up calculations, and temperature conversions
- Basic chemistry knowledge (periodic table, pH, moles, acid, base, concentration, etc)
- Proficiency in MS Office software required
- Prior exposure to related industrial safety protocols, such as NFPA labeling, SDS, Hazwoper, etc. is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced research environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs over short distances.
