Responsible for reviewing the medical record of all emergency room/Observation visits to identify factors necessary for the completion of the acuity level and separate charge checklist. Follows up with nurses on unclear documentation and provides feedback and education to nurses on documentation. Reconciles that all ED/Observation visits have been processed for level calculation and charge entry into electronic documentation system. Estimated salary range for this position is $69617.60 - $92591.41 / year depending on experience.
Qualifications:
Degrees: Bachelors Licenses & Certifications: Basic Life Support Registered Nurse Additional Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Nursing - BSN. Three years healthcare experience. Two years clinical or outpatient coding experience preferred. Completion of an accredited certified coding specialist program preferred. Charging, billing and chart audit experience preferred. Position requires ability to review medical records and determine what charges can be billed based on documentation. Knowledge of medical terminology, outpatient prospective payment system (APCS) and Local Medical Review Policies, as well as knowledge of laws, regulations and rules applicable to billing government payers preferred. Competency in computer applications required. Previous experience with computer based billing and compliance editing software preferred. (BLS, ACLS, PALS) as per MH/FCH entity standard.
