Collaborates with the Spiritual Care team to provide pastoral care services to patients and their family members. Responds to urgent situations, (codes or death) at the request or referral of administrative coordinators, nurses, family, etc. Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.
Christian Chaplains, or equivalent. Chaplains are required to maintain current status with their certifying organization.
What You Bring/Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Bachelor's degree in spiritual care, Arts or equivalent degree from college/university or institution accredited by the applicant's institutional faith body. Completion of Roman Catholic deacon training and ordination is also acceptable if applicant does not have a bachelor's degree. Formal study in a theologically related field preferred. Bachelor's degree in unrelated field is allowed if applicant has a
allowed if applicant has a Master's degree in spiritual care related field or equivalent, or is currently enrolled in such a Master's degree program.
Master's degree in spiritual care related field or equivalent degree from accredited college/university or institution accredited by the applicant's institutional faith body. Formal study in a theologically related field preferred.
One year in direct pastoral ministry, with demonstrated effectiveness. Experience in pastoral ministry
preferred. For AdventHealth Hospitals, prefer member of Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Chaplains who have completed 4 units of CPE are expected to become board certified within 12 months. Exceptions must be approved by their manager. Board certification organizations include: National Association of Catholic Chaplains, Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc, Association of Professional Chaplains, Spiritual Care association (4 units), The Association of Certified.
Drivers License
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly

Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville, Colorado is a community hospital that provides exceptional health care to the Louisville, Superior, Broomfield, Erie and surrounding Boulder area communities. A 114-bed full-service hospital, Avista provides first-rate heart, vascular and emergency care. Avista is home to a Joint and Spine Care Center specializing in hip and knee replacement and spine surgery. It is also widely recognized for its award-winning New Life Center, the area's market leader in births with an integrated labor, delivery, post-partum and baby model (LDRP) of care. Avista is also designated as the area's largest Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery and a Level III designation.
Pay Range
$24.24 - $36.58 / hour

- The PRN Chaplain on call position is one of 2 prns for Avista.
- 2-3 nights on call Mon-Fri from 7pm-7am from home.
- Must be 30-45 minutes in arriving at Avista when called to come in. .
- One weekend - Sat and Sun- every other weekend from 7am Saturday until 7am Monday morning.
- Must be available periodically to come in on day shift for 2-4 hours when needed.
- $5 per hour when on call
- When called to come in to the hospital the regular pay rate goes into effect plus pay differential.
- Must have a 4 year degree in Theology, Religion, Biblical Studies, Spiritual Care, or equivalent subject.
- Must be actively engaged in ministry at a church or parish.
- Must be willing to take Clinical Pastoral Education courses within one year of hire if you do not already have CPE.
