Full Job Description
The Hospice Chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual care services to patients and families/caregivers of our organization either directly or through coordination of care with other spiritual counselors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spiritual Assessment: Conduct comprehensive spiritual assessments to understand the unique spiritual needs of patients and their families.
- Pastoral Care: Provide compassionate pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual support to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Emotional Support: Offer empathetic listening and emotional support to individuals facing terminal illness, grief, and loss.
- Facilitate Spiritual Practices: Facilitate religious rituals, ceremonies, and spiritual practices based on the beliefs and preferences of patients and families.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including nurses, social workers, and physicians, to develop holistic care plans that address the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of patients.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and spiritual support during times of acute medical crises or emotional distress.
- Education and Training: Offer education and training to staff members on topics related to spirituality, cultural sensitivity, and end-of-life care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of spiritual assessments, interventions, and patient interactions in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Position Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv, or equivalent theological degree) - Preferred
- Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregiver.
- Ability to work as a member of the interdisciplinary group.
- Comfort in an interfaith setting.
- Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
- Ability to network with community clergy and congregations.
- Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care.
- Hospice/ experience preferred.
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order.

Pay: $58,000-66,000
