GENERAL DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides a central role on the hospice and palliative care teams, not only providing personal care for the patient and assisting with activities of daily living but demonstrating competencies specific to enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families facing progressive, life-limiting illnesses. The CNA function in a supportive relationship to professional disciplines and may function as an extension of these professional services with written instructions, appropriate supervision and specialized hospice training.
Experience Requirements
Must have previous experience as a Nursing Assistant. Personal care experience is preferred. To be considered, the CNA cannot have a lapse of 24 consecutive months where the aide has not provided services for compensation on their record.
Education/Licensing Requirements
Must have at least a certificate of completion from an approved Nurse Aide training program. In addition, registration is required by the appropriate Board of Nursing as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
