Position Summary:
Responsible for providing the necessary supervision, care, and advice to a woman during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period; conducting the delivery of a child; and providing immediate newborn care.
Position Duties (Not all Inclusive):
- Provide prenatal care at clinic including History & Physical, identification of risk factors and appropriate lab test and interpretation.
- Evaluation of the obstetrical woman on admission to Labor & Delivery.
- Address presenting symptoms, order tests, determine diagnosis and treatment.
- Consult physician per practice/hospital guidelines.
- Work in the clinic and hospital to include on-call for hospital.
- Labor and Delivery Intrapartum care. First assist at C-Sections.
- Postpartum Management including discharge teaching.
Qualifications:
- Required: Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Required: Advance Practice Nurse licensed to practice in the State of Texas. Board Certified.
- Required: Certified Nurse Midwife. Certification by National Organization.
- Preferred: One year of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife
- Required: CPR Certified-(BLS) through American Heart Association
- Required: NRP Certification
- Preferred: Certification in Fetal Monitoring
