The UPMC Child Advocacy Center of Central PA (CAC) located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is seeking a Certified Child Abuse Pediatrician to join their practice. UPMC Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child advocacy center dedicated to reducing the trauma and aftermath of abuse for children and their families. The CAC provides comprehensive, quality care in a safe, child-friendly environment for children suspected of having been abused or neglected.
The UPMC CAC is one of the first nationally accredited child advocacy centers in Pennsylvania. Opened in 1994, the center has expanded to include a main office and two satellite offices. The CAC staff sees approximately 1100 children annually and the center is in the top 10% nationally for number of children served. The center focuses on serving children who have experienced physical and/or sexual abuse, neglect, or who have witnessed violence in their home or community.
With the interests of the children at the forefront, we:
- Interview children in a non-leading, non-suggestive manner.
- Provide medical exams to ensure a child's health and safety.
- Provide trauma focused therapy to children and their nonoffending caregivers.
Job Summary:
The Child Abuse Pediatrician is responsible for providing primary health care to pediatric patients referred to the CAC for allegations of abuse and includes performing colposcopic examinations as well as photographic documentation of suspected injuries. This individual will act as medical director of the practice and provide oversight of and professional development to the Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners. They will develop protocols to standardize practice and assist the director of operations in ensuring all medical requirements are met for national accreditation through the National Children’s Alliance. They will work with the director of operations to expand services and grow the practice. The Child Abuse Pediatrician will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary investigative team by attending case review and testifying in court. This individual will act as a role model for employees by demonstrating excellent customer relations and working to actualize the System's statement of mission, vision, and values.
Professional Skills:
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Pediatrics.
- Completion of a Child Abuse Pediatric Fellowship required.
- Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
