The salary range for this position will be adjusted on April 1, 2024, which will impact the minimum salary for this classification. The new salary range on April 1, 2024 will be $3,218.00-$4,338 monthly.

What you need to qualify

Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents, or;
An associate degree in any field, or:
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential attributes
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the public, service providers, and clients in person, over the telephone and in writing respecting cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Experience working with an equitable and trauma-informed approach.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel, typing, and/or other database software program to file, organize, and retrieve data.
  • Experience consistently going beyond to exceed customer expectations.
  • Experience conducting work that requires attention to detail.

About the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline (ORCAH)
At the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline, our mission is clear: to receive reports of Child Abuse 24/7, 365 day a year, providing excellent customer service with equitable and consistent decision-making to ensure the safety of Oregon’s Children. We take this responsibility seriously, knowing that our actions directly impact the lives of vulnerable children and families.
We are the first line of response, diligently receiving and analyzing reports of Child Abuse. Our commitment to excellence drives us to provide compassionate support to callers while making informed decisions that prioritize the well-being of Oregon’s children. We believe in community engagement, and actively collaborate with families, mandatory reporters, local organizations, and concerned citizens. Our vision is to respond to reports of Child Abuse transparently, ensuring that children and youth have the intervention they need and remain safely within their own communities and families when possible.

As a Business Support (Office Specialist 2), you will:
  • Work with a dynamic and dedicated group of Child Welfare employees.
  • Complete referrals to appropriate parties (law enforcement, tribal, screeners, and supervisors)
  • Filter email boxes to track tasks.
  • Process LEDS (Law Enforcement Database System) requests.
  • Request police reports.
  • Answer the ORCAH reception line.
  • Monitor any incoming fax or mail.

Working conditions
  • This position may be eligible for a Hybrid remote working option. The expected schedule at the central worksite will not be the same each week/month as they will be scheduled based on In Office rotation for business need, in person unit meetings, and bi-monthly one on one staffings. NOTE: Working remotely is voluntary and may be terminated at any time by either the employee or employer.
  • This position has a 90-day training period. All training is conducted In Office from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. After the training period is complete, your work schedule will be discussed with your manager.
  • The employee’s flexibility to this work schedule is considered a condition of employment, with the understanding the hours of work may vary from day to day, week to week, and holidays as work schedules dictate.
  • You may receive or be privy to information that can be trauma-inducing.
  • You may have stressful situations that require quick decision-making skills. This may be trauma-inducing.
  • You will interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
  • You may have long periods of sitting at a computer.
  • You are expected to work competently within the agency’s electronic information system (ORKIDS), proficient with Outlook, and Microsoft programs.
