POSITION SUMMARY
To be fully engaged in the Health First Value Promise by orchestrating registration of emergency department patient admits, direct patient admits, and patient transfers with an appropriate, clean, and ready bed assignment in a timely manner.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Obtains optimal bed assignments for all patient admissions and transfers to meet the patient/family needs throughout the Hospital Division, including patients in PACUs and Special Procedure areas.
2. Maintains Teletracking Bed Board to ensure patient location and status is correct and updated.
3. Collaborates with Patient Flow Administrators, Environmental Services and Patient Transport to quickly facilitate patient flow into clean, ready, and optimal bed assignments, including ordering of specialty beds for special need patients throughout the Hospital Division.
4. Prioritizes acuity needs with patient wait times and escalates communication to Patient Transport and Environmental Services.
5. Coordinates with Patient Flow Administrators for CMS qualifiers for patients with COPD, CHF, and PNA
6. Coordinates patient flow based on need for isolation, Baker Act, or other special needs
7. Facilitates internal transfers for LOC changes to provide for appropriate care and open beds for incoming patients
8. Accountable for unit-based goals for decreasing wait time from admission to optimal bed assignment
9. Accurately processes all admission orders, patient type changes, and MD order changes for Hospital Division
10. Quickly processes registration requisitions from ED status to admitted status.
11. Accurately processes the registration of direct admit patients and transfers prior to patient arrival to the hospital for admission. Notifies the TAC RN if insurance authorization is required and verifies insurance is active through RR/RTE applications
12. Creates pre-register accounts for all newborns at Holmes Regional and changes admission status when delivered.
13. Registers all Cape Canaveral newborn deliveries
14. Refers all inpatients with Medicare to the follow up team for distribution of the Medicare letter.
15. Faxes notifications to the VA for admissions and status type changes for all patients with VA insurance
16. Updates made upon receipt of order from trauma service to preserve all medical history for these patients.
17. Creates and process all inpatient hospice admits.
18. Facilitates requests from First Flight Communications for patient accounts for "Round Trip" patient procedures to ensure no delays in care at receiving facility.
19. Accurately creates HAA accounts for all air ambulance in-county and out-of-county flights.
20. Communicates proper post-op status with the Clinical RN Reviewer when admitting order does not match the scheduled patient type for all surgical admissions.
21. Communicates Code 44 orders with Utilization Review RN if inpatient admission for Medicare patient requires status change to Observation.
22. Facilitates hospital evacuation in the event of a hurricane and maintains Bed Placement and centralized registration activity throughout the entire disaster period. Facilitates all designated bed assignments of returning patient's post-storm.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Work Experience: Recent experience in health care or customer service preferred with strong emphasis working with multiple computer applications
