To assist in providing an inventory of nursing supplies and equipment in an efficient manner, in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards and guidelines, and in accordance with our established policies and procedures, to assure that quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

Delegation of Authority:

As Central Supply Lead, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your duties.

Requirements

 Administrative Functions:

Assist in developing methods for determining quantity of supplies and equipment required.

Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Assistant Director of Nursing Services (A/DNS) concerning procurement procedures as directed.

Ensure departments are charged for supplies received.

Deliver emergency supplies and equipment as directed.

Ensure inventory is current when receiving/issuing supplies and equipment.

Organize storage and catalog location of supplies and equipment for efficient handling and preventing deterioration.

Other duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor.

Nursing Supply Functions:

Provide nursing units with services as required such as disposal of contaminated articles, PRN requests, stocking supplies. 

Maintain oxygen rooms in a clean, stocked and organized manner. 

Order oxygen tanks and billings for Medicaid and private residents.

Distribution of required products to residents on a daily basis for private billing, inventory control and ordering.

Cleaning and minor repairs of equipment required or directed by your supervisor.

Personnel Functions:

Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, positive emphasis and a calm environment.

Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational programs.

Assist in resident dining service as directed.

Safety and Sanitation Functions:

Follow all established safety procedures in performing all duties.

Participate in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner.

Follow all established infection control and universal precautions and procedures.

Specific Requirements:

High School diploma or GED.

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.

Physical Requirements: (with or without the aid of mechanical devices)

Vision: Normal or corrected to normal required. Must be able to read labels, doctor’s instructions, medication orders, charts and medical history.

Talk/Hear: Necessary for safety awareness and for communicating and taking instructions from physicians, labs, pharmacists, families and supervisor. Ability to read, write and speak English.

Stand/walking:  Frequent standing with walking while delivering supplies to nursing units.

Lifting: Frequent lift to 10-25 pounds for supplies. Seldom lifting up to 50 pounds to transfer supplies to cart.

Carry: Frequent up to 5 pounds. Occasional 5 – 10 pounds.

Push/Pull: Occasional push/pull cart with medical equipment and supplies requiring up to 10 pounds of force. Seldom Push/pull cart loaded with heavier supplies requiring push/pull force up to 25 pounds. Typically cart rolls easily over carpeting and tile. Push wheelchairs on an Occasional basis. In regards to pushing wheelchairs the ratio is 8:1, so a 150 pound person in a wheelchair that weighs approximately 50 pounds would require 25 pounds of initial push force and then 20 pounds of kinetic force to maintain the pushing.

Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.

Must be able to relate to and work with ill, handicapped, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people within the facility.

Must be able to work extended hours if necessary.

Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.

Must be Covid-19 vaccinated.
