AddressCollects up front deposits due from patients from information obtained during the scheduling process. Offers alternative financial arrangements to the patient in the event he/she is unable to meet deposit requirements. Verifies insurance benefits, obtains necessary authorizations, documents, schedules outpatient procedures. Contacts patients to advise of appointment time, insurance benefits, and financial obligation.
Reports to: Supervisor, Patient Access
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required, may be substituted year for year with directly related experience.
Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience
Previous hospital scheduling experience preferred.
Knowledge/Ability to perform Microsoft applications required.
Previous customer service experience required.
Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial insurance, Blue Cross and HMO payers.
