The CSSO Phlebotomist is part of a market based, float pool team that is assigned to varying facilities (float up to 3 locations) during their shift to ensure that patient care needs are met within the assigned facility. These Phlebotomists possess the skills, competency and qualifications, as well as a requirement to work in all facilities within a defined market (Greater Charlotte (GCM) or Greater Winston Salem (GWSM)).
The team member is required to designate the float pool of their choice and sign the Novant Health: Central Staffing and Scheduling Office (CSSO) Agreement
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Relevant phlebotomy experience.
- Experience: Three Years, required.
- Licensure/Certification: Certification by ASCP, ASPT, AMT or NHA, required.
- Additional Skills (required):
- New hire phlebotomist must obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
- Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.
- Skilled in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations.
- Skilled in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public.
- Ability to follow written protocols.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
