Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated researcher to join our Enabling Transformational Technology (ETT) team in the Enabling Technologies Group as a full-time Cell Technology Development Research Scientist. The ETT team's primary function is focused on scientific invention and technology innovation that supports Corteva's Seed Product Development. Our research interests are focused on developing cell science and single cell manipulation technologies that can be used for a range of applications. In this role, you will work with highly dynamic cross-functional teams and become a real-world problem solver to provide cutting-edge solutions for plant breeding and crop protection. This role presents an excellent opportunity for candidates who have a passion for applied industrial research and enjoy being in an innovative environment, who are eager to take a multidisciplinary approach for solving technical challenges, and who deliver on projects while maintaining a learn forward attitude.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with research development team in the Enabling Technologies group and be a part of an innovation network team that works internally and externally to develop molecular delivery and cell processing technologies including cell sorting, delivery, tissue culture, and cellular reprogramming.
  • Provide technical leadership to design, and conduct experiments with a respectful, collaborative, and positive team spirit.
  • Design and carry-out experiments while supporting others on the use of microfluidics approaches for cell processing and manipulation.
  • Partner internally and externally to design new microfluidics concepts to support discovery research.
  • Integrate knowledge of cell physiology, molecular biology, and Cell Technology to solve research problems and develop novel solutions.
  • Proactively uphold Corteva's core values and compliance with best laboratory practices.
  • Follow company safety polices, protocols, and procedures, and ensure a safe working environment for self and team members.
Qualifications

Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related scientific fields with experience in novel Technology Development.
  • Bioengineering experiences on proof-of-concept testing and prototype validation testing related to microfluidic single cell technologies are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in microfluidic technologies, mechanical, electrical engineering and microfabrication is highly desired.
  • Ability to use computer aided design (CAD), data analysis, and computational simulation and programming is highly desired.
  • Experiences in plant and/or animal single cell and tissue culture.
  • Helpful experience includes cell culture, confocal microscopy, and imaging analysis.
  • This job requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to support a high-quality laboratory environment through custodianship of equipment and strict adherence to lab safety practices.
  • Innovative spirit, able to take the initiative, learn fast, and be people- and logistics-oriented.
  • Ability to function both independently as project leader and as a respectful team member.
  • Must be reliable, self-motivated, persistent, and can work effectively both alone and in teams.
